As many of you may have heard, Josh McDermitt has deactivated all of his social media accounts due to death threats from so called fans because of his character's, Eugene Porter, story arc.
Not cool. Not cool at all.
Not cool. Not cool at all.
When this post was originally planned, I was going to rip the threat making Lame Brains a "new one." However, I am just one person, and even one person with a blog can only make a limited difference. Instead, I would like to empower our TWDFamily to police each other and ourselves.
We need to Look and Alert when we are on a social media site for the fandom.
Look at the replys, commments, tweets, and/or posts. If it is an overwhelming number like 1,068, look at the first few. You are looking for "hot phrases" such as, "Real Person name, I'm going to kill you."
Phrases that include blatant threats against the actor should be alerted/reported to the hosting site and the page administrator. The Lame Brains need to know that we are not going to allow that behavior in our family.

Because our TWDFamily feels so passionately about our show, phrases such as "I hope Maggie kills Gregory, Gregory needs to die, Gregory needs to meet Lucille, and Shiva needs to eat Simon are all perfectly acceptable, because you are commenting on a fictional character and not on a real person.
Sometimes, we have to have a family member censored in real life, and sometimes we have to have a TWDFamily member censored as well.
To anyone making threats against real people, STOP! Stop acting like the brain dead.
The actors have very little control over their story arcs. The actors job is not to write their stories, but to authentically portray those characters as they go through the challenges set by the writers and producers in charge of the actual story and character arcs,
I know it is very easy to get caught up in the characters and story, but we need to remeber that the actors are very real people. We may be "The Walking Dead," but we are not "The Walking Brain Dead."
